Skyraid.io is in active development. This page lists recent changes to the game, including new features, balance adjustments, performance improvements, and bug fixes. Updates are pushed live without downtime, so you may see new content the next time you join a match.
April 7, 2026 — New Tier 2 Plane Art
All Tier 2 aircraft now use new high-detail sprites that better reflect their real-world inspirations. The Mustang, Spitfire, B-17, Stuka, Lightning, and Zero each have unique liveries and are easier to identify at a glance during combat.
Reduced garbage collection pressure during long matches. Late-round frame stutters on lower-end hardware should be much rarer.
Fixed a rendering bug that caused supply drops to occasionally flicker between frames when collected by another player.
April 6, 2026 — Cross-Continent Latency Fix
Fixed an interpolation jitter that affected players connecting from regions with high baseline ping (200 ms+). Other players' aircraft now move smoothly even on cross-Atlantic and cross-Pacific connections.
Improved reconnection handling so that players who lose their connection mid-match are reattached to the same room and aircraft if they return within 30 seconds.
Various small bug fixes to combat and movement.
April 5, 2026 — New Aircraft Variants & SEO
Added new gameplay features to the core combat loop, including improved hit feedback and adjusted damage falloff.
Improved server-side metadata and sitemap so that search engines can properly index the game and its supporting pages.
New plane variants added to the lineup, with adjustments to evolution unlocks.
April 4, 2026 — Time-to-Kill Rebalance & UI Polish
Combat balance: All planes have slightly more HP and bullet damage. The intent is longer, more dynamic dogfights with more room for skill-based recovery.
Speed tuning: Several aircraft received small speed adjustments to make the Interceptor and Lightning paths feel distinctly faster than the rest.
XP collection: Fixed an issue where XP orbs occasionally failed to register on collection. Death-screen statistics now correctly reflect total score earned during the round.
UI updates: Refreshed the menu, settings, and ESC pause overlay. Added an ESC menu indicator hint so players notice the controls panel.
Object scaling: Ground targets and airbases are now slightly larger and easier to hit, especially for Biplane pilots.
Visual polish: CSS improvements throughout the menu and HUD.
April 3, 2026 — Binary Networking Protocol
Major networking change: Game state is now serialized as compact binary data instead of JSON. Bandwidth usage is reduced by approximately 60%, and parsing is faster on both server and client. The result is lower bandwidth, lower CPU usage, and noticeably less stutter on slow connections.
Bot AI updates: bots now use the new binary protocol natively and react more quickly to nearby threats.
Initial CrazyGames-specific build pipeline added to support the platform's SDK.
April 2, 2026 — Onboarding & Bot Improvements
Added a first-time-player onboarding hint sequence that highlights the controls panel, the minimap, and the evolution UI during the first few seconds of a new player's first match.
Improved the minimap rendering pipeline. The minimap is now drawn to an offscreen canvas and throttled to 10 fps, dramatically reducing CPU usage during heavy combat.
Bots are now more aggressive and engage at full speed, which makes empty servers feel more like populated ones.
Memory optimizations for long-running rooms.
April 1, 2026 — Cluster Mode & Room Stability
Cluster mode rolled out as the default deployment, allowing the server to use multiple CPU cores while maintaining sticky sessions for each player.
Fixed several room-creation bugs that occasionally placed players into the wrong room when joining via invite link.
Status page consolidated into a single endpoint with optional admin authentication.
March 27, 2026 — 10 Aircraft Across 3 Tiers
The full evolution tree is now live: Biplane (starter), three Tier 1 specialists (Fighter, Bomber, Interceptor), and six Tier 2 legends (P-51 Mustang, Spitfire, B-17 Fortress, Ju-87 Stuka, P-38 Lightning, A6M Zero).
Each Tier 2 plane has its own playstyle and stat profile. See the aircraft database for full details.
Post-Tier 2 attribute upgrades (Armor, Attack Damage, Max HP, Rocket Damage) are now available every 1,500 XP.
March 23, 2026 — Post-Match Awards & Kill Cards
Added a post-match scoreboard that shows the top pilots, their final aircraft, kill/death ratios, and total scores.
New kill card overlay appears briefly when you defeat another player, showing their name and the aircraft they were flying.
Round system polished: 10-minute rounds with a 10-second scoreboard intermission.
Earlier Updates
Skyraid.io has been in active development since early 2026. Early builds focused on the core flight model, server-authoritative physics, and the spatial grid optimizations that allow many players in the same arena. The aircraft evolution tree, supply drops, bombing runs, airbases, and ground targets were added incrementally as the playtest community grew. The game continues to evolve with regular balance passes and new features.
